About Us

Channel Computers Limited (CCL) was formed in 1991 by David McLaren and John Plumbley after both had spent many years working for major tour operators, developing reservation systems in the UK, Europe and Scandinavia.

Coming from a background of high volume reservation systems, they applied their wealth of experience in high performance techniques to unix based solutions.

CCL have been providing bespoke development, consultancy and technical support services to a number of major tour operators since their formation.

In 1997 CCL were commissioned to lead the development of a new bespoke reservation system for Cosmos Holidays. This system, which went live on schedule in March 2000, has been a resounding success and is renowned for its performance and stability. The system has evolved since it's initial implementation and now provides the booking engine for Cosmos Holidays, Avro, Cosmos Tourama, Archers Direct and somerwhere2stay.com. CCL continues to be retained by the Cosmos Group for ongoing development and technical support of their system.

In 2003 CCL acquired the intellectual property rights to the commercial version of this system, now known as the 'Tourcom Reservation System'.

The first successful implementation of the Tourcom Reservation System was in June 2003 with leading specialist tour operator, Jewel in the Crown Holidays.

CCL continues to develop the Tourcom suite of programs. Additions over the last few years have included an XML interface providing online availability searching and booking facilities for business partners and a web booking front-end which fully integrates with all the existing booking and administration facilities.
